Curtis Novak Classic Pickups Logo

We hand-build pickups for guitar, bass, and anything else you may need a pickup for. Since 1985 we’ve been seeking out the most innovative ways to perfect that nuanced tone or recreate a sound you thought had been lost somewhere in 1963…

Earthquaker Devices

We inspire a lifetime of musical adventures for all sonic explorers.

Do you like effects pedals? We do! Here at EarthQuaker Devices, we like pedals so much that we make them one-at-a-time, by hand, the hard way, in the idyllic post-apocalyptic wasteland metropolis of Akron, Ohio, USA – where the soldering smoke blocks out the sun, and the fiery Cuyahoga River pumps white-hot liquid magma into the steam engine that powers our great riff factory in the sky.

Hand-built amplifiers, effects and guitars. Yesterday’s technology… today!

“The best way to describe the tone of a Satellite amp is it’s like an extended middle finger coming right at your face.” – Dennis Casey, Flogging Molly

BilT Guitars have been making custom electric guitars by hand in Des Moines, Iowa since 2009. We are a small company. Every crafted guitar is made by manually using the sense of touch, not only to guide, but also as a wielded hand tool. If it’s not quite clear, we build handmade electric guitars right here in Des Moines, Iowa USA! We love guitars, we love music made with guitars, we love our guitars making music.

Mythos was started by Zach Broyles in 2010 as a way of branding the builds that he had been making for himself and friends. Zach began modifying guitar effects in the mid 2000’s but started building his own circuits after diving deep into how guitar effects worked. Mythos took a few years to get off the ground but after moving to Nashville and getting a job at Carter Vintage Guitars the future was solidified. The idea behind Mythos was, and will continue to be, to make simple effects that anyone can enjoy. Operated by a small team outside Nashville, TN, Mythos Pedals are built by musicians who love tone and all things guitar.

Tone Ranger Guitars grew from my love of the West: the culture, the environment, the music, and the history of the western American deserts and forests. Lovingly hand-crafted in my one-man shop in LA with the finest components and pickups, Tone Ranger Guitars are made entirely from sustainable, local, urban trees from Los Angeles and her surrounding counties, yielding tonewoods with a unique sonic brilliance all their own.

Dunable USA Custom Shop guitars, basses, and pickups are built, finished, and set up right here in southeast Los Angeles, by a small team of skilled individuals who love guitars and riffs, and have dedicated their energy to making these guitars better and better every year. Every person here is a guitar expert, and all came in with professional experience from other big-name USA custom shops, engineering or manufacturing backgrounds, or years of touring as musicians or techs. In some cases all three.

I love making my clients’ dream instrument become a reality, even when this pushes me out of my comfort zone. I also love making my own ideas and designs come to fruition. I love building very close replica/copies of beloved vintage guitars — but I also get a lot of joy exploring new ideas and designs. I don’t want to pursue novelty for the sake of being novel, though. One of my shorthand phrases I like to use as a builder/designer is “Modern design without abandoning vintage sensibilities”.

The Calypso is both lightweight and acoustically resonant. It features a one piece, chambered black limba body and 3A quilted maple top. The neck is hard maple, padauk, and walnut. This multi layer construction reduces the chance of warping and headstock breaks Narrow block acetate inlays, genuine mother of pearl logo, cocobolo headstock, carved neck, and volute are just a few of the appointments that really shine on this handmade instrument. Pickups are the beating heart of any electric guitar and with this hand-wound set by Tim McNelly, you are sure to feel the pulse!

Sam Evans started Cardinal Instruments in 2007 focusing on local woods (both new and reclaimed), locally machined custom hardware, and pickups wound in-house. Cardinal embodies an ethos that focuses on a regional approach to lutherie. Utilizing materials and designs that reflect the uniqueness of the Austin area. With each model focusing on a core group of woods and specifications, his desired results are consistent and repeatable. Sam’s decades of experience as a builder and a player have enabled him to create instruments that transcend his unique aesthetic. Not only do they look the part of meticulously handcrafted instruments, their playability and timbres are second to none.

Design + innovation, quality + playability are the principles of our craft. Each guitar is hand crafted in our workshop close to Berlin, Germany.

The reclaimed or salvaged Old Growth Redwood used at Grez Guitars are from first growth trees often 800+ years old. This reclaimed wood is sourced from deconstructed or rehabilitated structures such as train tunnels, wine barrels, water vessels, vinegar tanks, barns and factories. Using reclaimed wood produces exceptional solid, semi-hollowbody and acoustic guitars that are surprisingly light weight, acoustically vibrant and as uniquely beautiful.

I want to inspire players to connect with the instrument in a way that draws them towards creating their own signature playing style and tone. The best way to do that is with a guitar that is custom made. Combine that customization with a dialed in neck and a resonant, articulate vintage-style tone, and you get something very special. Add in beautifully rolled fretboard edges and meticulously filed and polished frets featuring smooth, soft hemispherically shaped ends — you’ll fall in love with your Slusser guitar all over again every time you pick it up.

Walsh Guitars is committed to choosing the very best wood, parts, and electronics all while ensuring they expertly come together in a happy and toneful medley.
As the saying goes, “the devil is in the details.” It is exactly my job to make sure those details are seen to, improved upon, and studied to the millionth degree. And even as the project evolves and details change, great attention will be given so that the very best quality is maintained.

R2R Electric was founded by Chris Vincent in 2019, out of a love for vintage guitars, amplifiers, and effects. Each effect that is built maintains the overall aesthetic and tone that R2R Electric is known for, but accomplishes it in a slightly different way. This highly-curated process makes every unit distinct and unique. No two R2R effects are identical, but they all have the same tone and vibe that has gained the attention of many of today’s hottest players and collectors.

We are guitar builders and carpenters. We do things the old school way… with vintage equipment, the way they did it back in the 50’s.

Schiemann Guitars aims to make custom guitars that serve the needs of the player. I strive to provide a custom shop experience that allows players to imagine and design their dream guitar. All builds start with an idea. If you are interested in building your dream guitar, join me in a conversation about what the next build should look like.
